The place for coffee, breakfast, lunch and catering in downtown Haverhill, MA
This is dedicated to you Marjorie
A long time ago there was an elderly Scottish women whom I befriended. Her only family was a great niece who lived in Scotland. Once a year she used to visit her niece. On one of her visits, she fell and injured her knee. When she returned from her visit she was unable to take care of herself, so I started cooking lunch and dinner for her. As she got better she pushed too far and ended up falling again, this time ending up in rehab, but at her age and with her mind set,she decided that she was never leaving. She wasn't the best patient and I used to get calls at all hours when she acted up. She always needed to be put back in her place. I used to visit everyday and still brought her dinner on Sunday's. We became very close in her last few years and every time they called me to come down and talk to her it was worth it. She would smile at me like a little kid who was in trouble waiting for father to come home. She spent the last year and a half of her life in the rehab. Before she passed away she wanted to do one more thing...go back to Scotland....walk amongst the Heather and lay down and die...She was never able to fulfill that wish.
